Dans le cadre d’un projet appelé « Diaspora Kitchen », deux organismes notamment Générations partenaires du progrès qui est une organisation non gouvernementale basée à Yaoundé et l’African Investment corporation s’accordent les violons pour apporter leur touche dans la sauvegarde du patrimoine culinaire du Cameroun. En effet, il est clairement établit que les mets traditionnels camerounais sont entrain de connaitre une baisse vertigineuse en terme de reconnaitre, et aussi tombent dans une désuétude qui ne dit pas son nom. Le Cameroun, pays de l’Afrique centrale connu pour être l’Afrique en miniature recèle curieusement d’une kyrielle de mets traditionnels qui méritent clairement d’être vulgarisés et pourquoi pas appartenir au patrimoine de l’humanité. C’est la raison pour laquelle ces deux organismes en l’occurrence Générations partenaires du progrès(GPP) et African Investments corporation ont donc décidés de travailler en partenariat pour enclencher le processus de standardisation et de codification de la cuisine camerounaise dans son ensemble, avec pour but in fine de « positionner ces saveurs séculaires, comme bien d’autres sur les tables du monde entier. Il est donc question à travers cette action de susciter le respect et la passion pour les mets traditionnels. L’évènement en lui-même intitulé « Diaspora kitchen » va donc réunir près de 20 talentueux chefs du Cameroun et des Etats-Unis, ceci dans le but d’établir de façon pérenne une passerelle mais également d’échanger sur les plats délicieux de la cuisine traditionnelle et pourquoi pas montrer les secrets de la réussite des mets du Cameroun. Cet évènement qui va se tenir à Mouanko du 09 au 10 mars prochain, qui est une commune côtière du département de la Sanaga maritime dans la régions du littoral verra beaucoup d’autres activités comme des expositions, un colloque, des contes, de la poésie pour ne citer que ceux-là. La horde de visiteurs qui est attendu aura donc la possibilité de gouter et de savourer les nombreux plats qui leurs seront proposés ainsi que des boissons rafraîchissantes. D’ailleurs, des chefs aillant des réputations bien établies ici et sur le plan international sont attendus à cet événement. On peut citer le chef Christian Abegan, qui également expert en stratégie culinaire et sécurité alimentaire, le chef Emile Engoulou, qui est un ambassadeur de la cuisine camerounaise et créateur de recettes originales… Tous ces grands noms de la cuisine sont donc attendus à cette rencontre du donner et du recevoir dans le domaine culinaire. Et d’après les dires de la présidente du GPP qui n’est autre que l’ancien ministre de la culture Ama Tutu Muna « cette initiative sans précédent bénéficie du soutien du gouvernement et des sponsors privés. Nous devons donc puiser dans la sagesse générationnelle et conjuguer nos efforts pour préserver le patrimoine culinaire du Cameroun afin qu’il puisse être apprécié par les futures générations ». Un message clair qui vient démontrer que cette rencontre est d’une importante capitale dans la préservation de l’identité du Cameroun et de sa richesse culinaire et même culturelle.
