Nigeria Independence Day is celebrated on October 1 every year. It is a very special and important event in the history of Nigeria as it marks their independence from their colonial past.
At the headquarters of the Nigerian consulate in Douala, as is customary every year, the Nigerian community celebrates its independence. The country was once a colony of Britain until it became an independent and free state on October 1, 1960, so Nigeria turns 62 this year.
October 1, 2022 will mark the 62nd anniversary of Nigeria’s independence from British colonial rule in 1960. This year, the people of Nigeria will proudly celebrate the 62nd anniversary of the independence of their country, in friendly country Cameroon. Africa’s most populous country gained independence from Britain on October 1.

The celebrations begin on the morning of Independence Day, when the President of Nigeria addresses the general public with a nationally televised speech. Nigerians then proudly sing the national anthem while hoisting the green and white flag. Later, the Nigerian Armed Forces march to the rhythm of beating drums and carry out military maneuvers in the nation’s capital, Abuja. The Nigerian government at both federal, state and local level is planning a lot of activities to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of Independence Day with lots of religious and religious activities.
